On the 1st March 2012, the RTE 1 series Home Chef featured Flahavan's, one of the country's longest established iconic food brands.
Top chef Neven Maguire visited the Flahavan's mill in Kilmacthomas and spoke to John Flahavan, the sixth generation of his family to run the mill. They discussed the resurgence of porridge as a popular breakfast choice due to its varied and numerous health benefits.
John Flahavan explains that Flahavan's oats are sourced from local Irish farmers
and how as a result of the family's unique milling process, Flahavan's oats have a rich texture, natural aroma and distinctive creamy taste. He describes how Flahavan's have been exporting its porridge products to the UK since 2003 and that they began selling an Irish Oatmeal range to the American market in November 2010.
Neven also makes his much-loved McNean porridge and muesli using Flahavan's oats.
